TERMITE BAIT INSTALLATION FOR FIRSTLINE SMARTDISC AND DEFENDER UNITSINSTALLATION AND MONITORING PROCEDURES: FOR THE FIRSTLINE® SMARTDISC LOCATORS/MONITORS OR DEFENDER UNITS AND ® FIRST LINE GT PLUS BAIT STAKES
SMARTDISC
MONITOR UNIT
DEFENDER
UNITControlling Termites Around the Structure Use SMARTDISC™ Locators and Monitoring Stations or Defender Units and FirstLine GT Plus Termite Bait Stations around the structure to detect and control termite populations. Monitoring Station Spacing: SMARTDISK MONITORS: Monitoring Stations should be installed approximately every 10 feet
around the perimeter of the structure.
Monitoring Station Spacing: DEFENDER UNITS: Defender Monitoring Stations should be installed approximately every 10 -20 feet around the perimeter of the structure.
Monitoring Station Placement Install the SMARTDISC or DEFENDER Locators and Monitoring Stations approximately
18-24 inches away from the foundation of the structure, or one to two
inches from the roof drip line. Installation of SMARTDISC and DEFENDER Locators and Monitoring Stations
2. SMARTDISC MONITOR : Using a 2 inch diameter drill bit, drill a 10 inch deep hole. You may
also use a post hole digger or shovel, backing filling the dirt under
the lip of the station so it is flush against the ground. DEFENDER UNITS: Installation is best with a post hole digger, about 6-8 inches deep
and 6 inches in diameter, 3. If live termites are found in the immediate perimeter of the structure (mulch beds, around tree stumps, etc...) a FirstLine® GT Plus Termite Bait Station may be placed directly into the infested area following procedures listed below.
4. Lightly tamp down the dirt with your foot( not to heavily) 5. Sit down and have a beverage, knowing that you have
saved your house and possibly half of the free world from the villainous
subterranean termite!! 1. Structures With Active Termite Infestations The Monitoring Stations should be checked for the presence of termites within one month following installation. Look for the presence of mud on the top of the wood. If mud or live termites are found, carefully remove the cap and extract
the wooden monitor, trying to minimize the disturbance. Once a FirstLine GT Plus Termite Bait Station has been introduced, re-inspection must occur within 4 weeks. Look through the clear cap of the Bait Station for the presence of termites
or termite mud. Termites usually fill in the cardboard corrugations with
mud when they infest a Bait Station. If there is evidence of termite activity, carefully remove the Bait
Station from the ground to determine the amount of bait that has been
consumed. Following three months of inactivity in a previously active Bait Station,
replace the Bait Station with a brand new Monitoring Station. During periods of extreme environmental conditions such as frozen ground,
snow and floods, the monitoring frequency around the exterior of the structure
may be altered until environmental conditions return to a state where
they become conducive to termite foraging again.
